This research work investigated the attitude of students towards students’ industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) using the descriptive survey research design. The research conducted among undergraduates students of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. 200 students were randomly selected from the department of Vocational and Technical education. Examination malpractice has become a normal occurrence among students world over, but more worrisome in Nigeria. Though there have been endless discussions on whether examination exercise should be expunged from school activity but there has not been any other substitute to assess the effectiveness of teaching and learning of both teachers and students respectively. Therefore, examination still remains one strong way of assessing academic activities in schools. Examination, as it were remains one of the Herculean tasks that is insurmountable for students generally irrespective of their level, sex, status or age. At the mention of examination, students begin to agitate, worry, pant, and express other general disposition of anxiety. Aside these common feelings toward examination especially in Nigeria, Ugo & Odimba (2010) submitted that there is over-reliance on results of examinations to secure higher education or to get jobs by the students; and there is high level of moral decadence in the society.

This project work focuses on the effects of poor parenting on academic performance of children on students’ academic performance. The study attempts to unravel the causes, effects and remedies to poor parenting on academic performance of children. It was carried out in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State. A sample of 100 was randomly drawn from selected secondary schools in the local government and questionnaires were administered to the respondents. The mean percentage test, which was adopted in the study’s analysis, indicated that excessive battering of a child by parents/teacher/guidance; broken homes, child hawking before and after school and unconducive learning environment are all causes of poor parenting on academic performance of children. Also, it was found that poor parenting on academic performance of childrennegatively affects child’s school performance; such abused children are vulnerable to early pregnancy. Ill treatment as well causes permanent and life long trauma, thereby making children develop low cognition to school subjects. The preaching of good morals by religious leaders to parents and guardians was part of the recommendations made in this study. Also, melting out punishment in form of fine on erring parents/guidance especially those forcing their children to hawk, and prevention from bad for peer influence will help eliminate or reduce to the barest minimum the incidence of poor parenting on academic performance of children.

The study examined Effective strategies for the utilization of technical education workshop for skill acquisition in manufacturing process in college of education in Anambra state. To achieve the major objectives of the study, six null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Relevant literatures were reviewed on the study. Eight hundred (800) final year Technical Education students from four tertiary institutions in Anambra State constituted the population of the study. A sample of 400 respondents was drawn from the population using purposive, stratified and simple random sampling techniques. The study adopted descriptive s survey design. Questionnaire research instrument titled “Facility Utilization and Students’ Employability Skill Acquisition Questionnaire (FUSESAQ)” was used for data collection. The instrument was face and content validated by three experts and a reliability estimate ranging from 0.77 –0.88 was established using Cronbach Alpha reliability method. The data generated from fieldwork were statistically analyzed using simple linear regression and population t-test. All hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that the utilization of infrastructural, instructional, library and information communication technology facilities had a significant joint influence on students’ employability skill acquisition in Technical Education. This research study examined the factors hindering effective teaching of vocational courses in Nigerian universities. The work aims at identifying the constraints to the effective teaching of vocational education programme in Nigerian higher institutions. It also aimed at ascertaining the availability and use of teaching aids in teaching and learning of vocational/technical courses in the Nigerian universities. In the course of achieving the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was designed and administered on students of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. The Likert scale response type questionnaire comprises of 20 items. And they were scored as follows: Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree and Strongly Disagreed.
