It is not enough for a business to have good products sold and services rendered at attractive prices. To generate sales and profits, the benefits of products have to be communicated to customers. In marketing, this is commonly known as “promotion”. Although promotion is not done only for these factors but for other such as to build brand loyalty, to reminds and reassure costumers, to launch a new product and maybe to defend market share by responding to competitors’ campaigns with their own advertising. A business’ total marketing communications programme is called the promotional technique and consists of a blend of promotional methods and all other efforts aimed at making the public know the importance and benefits of their product and services (Lieberman & Montgomery, 1998).

Road is the major mode of transport system in Nigeria. Even in terms of haulage of goods, the advent of motor vehicles revolutionized transport and constituted a challenge to the railroads. According to Stanford Research Institute (1963), Road transport as at 1953 was carrying 50% of the total ten-miles of freight in Nigeria and by 1960; the proportion had increased to 62% while the total traffic carried by all forms of transport had more than doubled. In the urban area a greater percentage of the people depended on public transport while the private transport system had the other percentage. (Ogunbodede, 1990; Ogunjumo, 1986; Okpala 1981 and Mrakpor, 1986). This was a result of rapid economic development in Nigeria. Public transport was mainly control by the private sector.

As industries engage in production of goods and services, they need to make them available to consumers at the right time right place and at the least cost (price).All these cannot be without effective and efficient system put in place. Distribution strategy is the transfer of products from one place to another or from one manufacturer such as wholesaler, retailer, agents and other means such as transportation, communication warehousing etc. (Jobber 2002). Distribution contributes no profit to companies account.

While the international order among states is quite strong, the world is not peaceful. In the wake of globalization and the explosion in communication technologies, new security related threats have Emerged that are to a great extent independent of national boundaries. As a result, a new kind of war is being waged in every country all over the world; this is because the primary threats to national security have changed fundamentally. They no longer spring from territorial and ideological disputes among nation states but from how far globalization, technological threats and criminal networks have grown to challenge nation states (Zalur & Zeckhauser 2002).

This research examined the effect of packaging on consumer buying choice of selected consumer goods in Calabar metropolis. The study was conducted in a bid to provide empirical evidence on the effect of packaging on consumer buying choice in order to assist dealers of consumer goods better understand consumer buying behavior and use that knowledge to influence customer patronage. It had the broad objective of investigating the effect of packaging on consumer buying choice of selected consumer goods in Calabar metropolis, and the following specific objectives: to examine the effect of packaging colour on consumer buying behavior towards Indomie Instant Noodles and Tummy Tummy Noodles in Calabar metropolis; to examine the influence of design of wrapper on consumer buying behavior of Indomie Instant Noodles and Tummy Tummy Noodles in Calabar metropolis; to examine the effect of quality of packaging material on consumer buying behavior of Indomie Instant Noodles and Tummy Tummy Noodles in Calabar metropolis; and to examine the influence of packaging information on consumer buying behavior of Indomie Instant Noodles and Tummy Tummy Noodles in Calabar metropolis. The research design adopted for this study was the cross-sectional survey research design.

The study of the nature involves a lot of deep research and understanding of the factors, which creates the effects on the subject matter. Primarily, these factors were more economical than managerial as the case may be, on the understanding that this research work is being casual out under a management setting or department. Just as the subject matter is, the impact of foreign direct investment on the Nigerian Economy with a case study of Nigerian Bottling Company Plc, it is based on the economic, social and entrepreneurial impacts created by these multinational companies like NBC Plc on their host societies. Based on this, the objective of this study was to determine through quantitative and quantitative measures whether the benefits of multinational enterprises (MNE’S) out weigh the cost that results from their activities in the hose countries.The first chapter of this work contains a general discussion (i.e. critics and defense) of FSI’s activities in host countries.

The study will help pin point the various growth challenges of indigenous companies in Nigeria as well as solutions to these challenges. Findings and recommendations from the study will enable company managers and the government to rally together and develop better policies that will encourage our Nigerian owned companies to grow. The study will also bring out strategies and techniques that can be adopted by indigenous companies in Nigeria to beat foreign owned firms and survive competition.
