EDUCATION PROJECT TOPICS AND MATERIALS

The classical theory, also known as the traditional theory of organisation or management has been used as the analytical tool for this work because the tenets of the theory tie with the work in question. This theory was propounded by Fredrick c. Taylor, Henry Fayol, Max Weber, L.Urwick, James.C. Moneny and Pveiley and breach in the late 19th century part of 20th century. This theory views the organization in terms of its purpose and formal structure. It places emphasis on the planning of how the technical requirements of the organization, and principal of management, there assumption of national and logical behaviour, it was thought that clear understanding of the purpose of the organisation is essential to understand how the organization works out its methods of working can be improved. Identification of general objectives would leads to the clarification of purpose and responsibilities at all levels of the organization and to the most attention to the division of works, the clear definition of duties and responsibilities, specialization and co-ordination. They laid emphasis on hierarchy of management and formal organizational relationship.

This research work was conducted to ascertain the comparative analysis of academic performance in English language and computer science in junior secondary school, Enugu North Educational Zone. A survey design was adopted for the study. A sample of 42 teachers both English language and computer science 110 students were drawn from 7 (seven) junior secondary schools in Enugu North. A structured Questionnaire was used to collect data and data collected were analyzed using frequency and percentage. The finding of the study showed that lack of quality instructional materials in the school can cause poor performance of students, inability of a teacher to give test and assignment to student will make student dull in their study, effectiveness of note making and note taking by the student will activate their attitude of learning, continuous assessment tasks practicing will embark on the academic performance and government should make incentive regular payment of salaries and allowances to the teacher to motivate them into effective teaching.

The world keeps advancing as time flies and this proves the need for education, in other to meet the advancement of civilization to ensure sustainable development (Taiwo 1980:p68). Education plays a pivotal role to the economy of any nation and the world at large. There will be about 3% increase in a nation’s economy with a positive approach on the state of education, according to World Bank. Education exposes individuals to a full knowledge of their fundamental human rights to avoid being trampled on (World Bank, 2002). When a nation’s intellectual resources are well utilized, it will aid development of the society.

This study seeks to find out the difference between the academic performance of the well-behaved and delinquent secondary school students. It is therefore important as it will to enable the teachers to know and understand the children and their different behaviours. Through this study, teachers can deal meaningfully with the students they teach because it would enable them to know as much as possible about the students.

In specific terms, secondary education should equip students so that they can be able to live effectively in our modern age of science and technology.

This study attempted to examine whether there is a relationship between school location and career aspirations of students. Some related and relevant literature were reviewed under sub headings such as the concept of career and career choice, theories of career choice, peer influence on career choice among others. The descriptive research survey design was used to assess the opinions of the randomly selected respondents with the aid of a questionnaire and the sampling technique. A total of 120 (one hundred and twenty) respondents were selected as samples for the study. Five null hypotheses were formulated and tested using the frequency percentages, ranking and the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Statistical tool at 0.05 level of significance.

The study is a comparative study of environmental awareness between public and private secondary school students. It examined the level of environmental awareness among the students of public and private secondary schools. It also assessed the level of environmental awareness between male and female secondary school students in both public and private secondary schools. It further determined the effect of the school type on the environmental awareness of secondary school students.

This paper compares and examines the performance of secondary school students who were candidates in food and nutrition examinations of both the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) from 2003-2012. Through quantitative analysis, the researcher thoroughly examined and analyzed results and statistics from both examining bodies in Nigeria, and to also identify margin of errors recorded in the chosen study areas. The researcher undertook a quantitative analysis of the performance of candidates who wrote the food and nutrition examinations in the following states-Kano, Lagos, Enugu, Akwa-Ibom and Rivers State so as to establish their comparability for control purposes. The research design was correlation. A sample of 347,609 candidates was drawn from a population of 1,422,133 examination candidates using a purposive sampling technique.

The study was restricted to Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. Limited time and financial constraint did not permit a larger geographical coverage. All the secondary grammar schools in this local government area were considered for the study. Only classes four and five students in the secondary grammar schools and their teachers were involved in the study. Students in classes one, two and three were excluded because most of them were considered by the researcher as not mature enough to realistically perceive the accurately express or report their problems like the students in classes four and five.
