OIL AND GAS/ PETROCHEMICAL ENGINEERING PROJECT TOPICS AND MATERIALS
Production well optimization and modeling is very important in the efficient management of oil and gas production from a well. A major factor contributing to this process is the accurate estimations of the flowing bottom-hole pressure at the formation as it helps in various petroleum production engineering analysis. Some of these analysis include studies on Vertical Lift Performance (VLP) and Inflow Performance. The effective determination of bottom-hole pressure has been a major concern in the industry due to several reasons as it can either be measured or estimated. In the case of measurement, a pressure gauge is needed down-hole, this is very accurate but expensive and time consuming. For this reason, this project will focus on flowing bottom-hole pressure estimation from wellhead pressure and data as it is generally cost effective and it can be easily determined within a short period of time.

There has been a relative slow rate of growth in the Nigerian Petroleum sector for past decades with a far reaching influence of foreign presence. It is a well known fact that the Petroleum sector in any economy requires great amount of technology, capital with seasoned and experienced manpower for national development, however all of these are insufficient in the Oil and Gas Industry and Nigeria as a whole.

The method to be adopted for this project is the use of sieve analysis and sucier correlation to determine the gravel pack size to be used for OBEN WELL 13 with formation sands gotten from the case study as mentioned above and useful information gotten from the internet, textbooks, petroleum journals. This method simply involves collecting core samples and running them through different sieves with different opening sizes, usually sieves with larger openings at the top and sieves of smaller opening at the bottom and plotting each weight retained on each sieve against the sieve opening size to determine the average formation sand size which is used to find accurate gravel size using sucier correlation.

The world is in a state of increasing energy demand accompanied by decreasing availability of conventional energy sources, the bulk of these energy sources being fossil fuel. The cost of fossil fuel, inclusive of cost of procurement, processing and utilization when considered alongside the deficient power generation from this energy source especially in developing countries is of exorbitant nature . Fossil fuel is in a state of decreasing availability. This unfavorable situation when considered with the detrimental effects of fossil fuel consumption on the environment poses a long overdue problem for confrontation.Need hitherto has arisen for the discovery and development of a cheap, alternative and environmental friendly source of energy such as biomass gasification.

An oil rim reservoir is a saturated reservoir with an oil column of limited thickness, less than 90 feet, overlain by a gas cap and underlain by an aquifer. Among the various challenges encountered in producing oil rim reservoirs, water and/or gas coning and breakthrough is the most prominent. Water and gas breakthrough occurs majorly due to heel-toe effect and reservoir permeability variations. Inflow control devices (ICDs) were deployed to mitigate the heel-toe effect thereby delaying the water and gas breakthrough.

This project examines the locational impact of petrol stations in Uvwie local government area. Primary data was collected using questionnaire and secondary data was collected from Ikonos digital imagery of Warri metropolitan area, 50 petrol stations were analyzed and questions administered to the respondents regarding to the locational impact of the petrol stations in the study area. The study result reveals, that the establishment and location of these petrol stations in various parts of the study area is going on without due regard to planning criteria, safety and without considering the environment.

This research work is basically carried out to optimize oil production from gaslifted wells via the installation of gaslift system. Data from XT field, a field in the Niger Delta will be used as a case study. PROSPER software will be used to design the well models. To fully optimize the XT field production system, sensitivity analysis will be performed to ascertain the effect of changing the tubing, water cut, surface choke, sub-surface safety valve sizing, skin and Gas-Oil Ratio (GOR) on the general well production system.

The technique used worldwide while drilling is known as overbalanced drilling. Which is defined as the drilling process where the hydrostatic pressure used exceeds the formation pressure. This is done with the main purpose of “killing” the well. However, there are numerous problems that accompany overbalanced drilling. Such problems are differential pipe sticking, loss of circulation, formation damage and other problems. A relatively new technique was introduced, known as underbalanced drilling, where the well is being drilled with a hydrostatic pressure less than that of the formation. Correct and proper execution of such technique eliminates problems associated with overbalanced drilling. More precisely, underbalanced drilling solves the issues of formation damage, differential pressure sticking and loss of circulation.

This study examined the deregulation of the downstream oil sector in Nigeria as a panacea to economic recovery of the country (An Analysis of 2010-2015 Economic Programme of Nigeria). In this study the researcher has find out some of the problems that are facing the deregulation of the downstream oil sector in Nigeria, these problems are continuous increase in petroleum price, scarcity of petroleum product . all these are the major problems that are facing the deregulation of the downstream oil sector which government have to help solving this problems by making fuel available and controlling the price.
