The research work was carried out by using primary and secondary data like interview method, questionnaire personal observation and the review of related literature. The literature reviewed include the journals, magazines, textbook periodical news papers lecturers, seminars. Response from the respondents show that the major problem in Nigeria is corruption like illegal ward of contracts, lobbying syndrome, indiscipline like brown envelope, godfathers, unpatriotic pracfraudster bad name and bloody practices etc. which promoted president Obascanjo to launch crusade against corruption after the military regime brining them to book for offence and punishment due for any offence committed without fear on favour of personality whereby he used Nigeria television authority for quick enhancement.

May 29, 1999 marked a watershed in Nigeria's political annals. It was the dawn of the Fourth Republic, a return to democratic rule after several years under the yoke of military misrule which was marked by much suffering, infrastructure decay, and institutionalized corruption. The hope of the common man for a just and an egalitarian society became rekindled with the institution of a democratic government. Nigerians greeted the return to democratic rule with widespread jubilation and optimism as they looked forward to a new era of stability, peace, and prosperity. However, sixteen (16) years after, Nigerians are still anxious to see and enjoy “democracy dividends” – social welfare, justice, equity, and equal access to resources andpower.

The 2015 general elections however, have been described as depicting a major turning point in Nigeria’s political history. The elections attracted audience from most part of the world. Observers both local and international described the election as a success. It is however, important to note that even though the conduct of the elections have been given a pass mark it is imperative to assess the performance of the electoral body so as to detect areas of challenges with the aim of improving on them for future elections hence, the need for this study on the assessment of independent national electoral commission INEC and the management of 2015 general elections in Nigeria.

The importance of government in any society is to enhance human condition through people’s involvement in the determination of various decisions that affect their lives. This research project is thus a search for the dividend of politics and how it affects the citizens of Nigeria.Chapter one of the study lays an introduction for subsequent chapters. Following the background of the study, the problem statement and the objective of the study which provided basis for the significance of the study and the hypothesis were stated. The limitations of this study were also highlighted. In the literature review as contained in chapter two, works of various authors, international and local journals were reviewed to elicit views on the assessing the dividend of politics in Nigeria. Chapter three, research methodology, description of population and sampling procedure for data collection were discussed. Methods of questionnaire design, determination of sampling size and questionnaire distribution were also highlighted. Chapter four was based on analysis of data collected. This chapter was sub-divided into data analysis, hypothesis testing and summary. Percentage table, figure and narration were carefully employed for proper understanding and testing of hypothesis. Finally, chapter five was divided into summary of findings, recommendation and conclusion.

The essence of reforming local government system was to bring about stable increases in the income, productivity, diversification of economy and general quality of lives in the rural areas. But the ability of the local governments to accomplish these tasks will depend extensively on their autonomy and financial positions. The problem of local governments in Kogi State is usually associated with by certain underlying factors like overdependence on statutory allocations from the Federation Account, autonomy, corruption, finance, qualify staff etc. The objective of this study focuses on finding out the causes of poverty and underdevelopment in Kabba-Bunu local government and to recommend appropriate solution. The data used for this study were collected through two main sources, namely; Primary and Secondary sources. The primary sources involves use of questionnaire administered directly to respondents and oral interview conducted to serve as veritable instrument for collecting facts and figures while the secondary source include: textbooks, journals, internet and conferences. to demonstrate considerable good governance and affect the lives of the rural people through consistent service delivery as the primary policy, Kabba-Bunu local government should minimize it total dependence on the federal allocation, and increase their efforts towards generating more revenue through the diversification of their internal revenue sources, minimize corruption, autonomy should be granted.

The work will target at examining the revenue allocation with a view of fully appreciating its impact on political stability of the nation. It will also review briefly some past revenue allocation principles in order to place this work on the proper historic perspective. The work will go a long way in contributing through analytical review of revenue allocation formula and the impact it has on the political stability of the economy. The success recorded in achieving the objectives of investigating the revenue allocation and political stability in Nigeria economy, point at the importance of the fact aspect of political economic management function of the government, which have appeared to be neglected by Nigerians.

Nigeria judiciary system is one that cannot be relied on for effective administration of justice; and that is why the elites keep embezzling funds meant for the public and walk away with it. When such cases are brought before the judges; in no distant time it will be swept under the carpet and the numbers of corrupt cases keep accumulating without fair judgment. This has equally made Nigerians not to believe in the judgments of the judges; even when their judgment is fair.

This study was intended to evaluate corruption in Nigeria; a threat to sustainable economic development. This study was guided by the following objectives; To appraise the nature of corruption in Nigeria, To determine the causes and effect of corruption on sustainable economic development in Nigeria. The study employed the explanatory design; secondary data extracted from the published annual reports of the commercial bank was used for the study.

One the challenges Nigeria is facing over the years is the cost of governance. This is what is partially acting as a stumbling block to our economy. It has now become a challenge to the concerned practitioners and the contemporary scholars in the field of business and social science research. Good governance has certain qualities associated with it, which includes ensuring respect for human rights, equity and rule of law; strengthening democracy through public participation and pluralism; promoting transparency, accountability, anti-corruption policies and capacity in public administration. In order to have a good government that caters for the citizens, we must start cutting the high cost of governance in Nigeria starting from the Federal government to the state and even to the grassroots government and watch how rapid our economy will grow. This study therefore gives incisive steps on how to achieve economic growth by cutting high cost of governance we are currently running in the country.
