ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING PROJECT TOPICS AND MATERIALS
Engineering industries are calling for graduates that have a breadth of skills including design and analysis skills, teaming skills and “soft skills” (i.e., project management, concept value analysis, communication, cross-disciplinary understanding, etc.). Furthermore, concepts that are traditionally taught in isolated packets are difficult to synthesize and apply to the more holistic problems engineers typically face. Northern Arizona University’s College of Engineering and Technology is implementing an innovative, four-year, sequence of classes called the Path to Synthesis. The sophomore and junior courses in the Path to Synthesis program are team-taught industry simulations which use collaborative product design to not only develop design skills, teamwork skills, and soft engineering skills, but to also encourage the use of state of the art design methods and professional-quality software tools. These two classes are each divided into divisions consisting of 8 to 9 students from the engineering disciplines of Civil/Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Science. Each division is managed by a faculty member who role plays as a division manager. The work done here, is focused on studying the behavior of propagated signals making use of the Walfisch-Ikegami pathloss model to predict the signal strength of which the Unilorin campus (located in Ilorin, Kwara state and covers about 75,000 hectares north and south) (6)serves as a quasi-laboratory to confirm the theory.The area of interest are characterized by sets of two-storey buildings that have evenly spaced pattern within the University of Ilorin campus.

The design was implemented to facilitate the Air traffic control system with its documentation and reporting system for administration. It will be less time wasting and cheap to run.
Nowadays the number of Airlines on the run away is creating heavy traffic that is very difficult to control and maintain safety. Growth of traffic here is non-linear as compared to the development of infrastructures such as run ways, intersections, flyovers and bridges. So to smoothen the flow of traffic at intersections, we use a video processing Air based smart traffic control system. Technically this system is based on computers and cameras which performs continuous monitoring of Aviation flow in the run ways with the help of preinstalled CCTV cameras. Then an intelligent traffic management decision is performed according to the measurement of Aviation flow parameters and Airplane numbers on traffic junction. The decision includes analyzing the videos from CCTV cameras and counts the number of Airlines in the junction and also import to the main system. We intend to present an improvement in existing manual traffic control system. It also discusses about using the timer for each phase and detecting Airlines through images instead of using electronic sensors embedded in the run way. Finally the traffic lights will be controlled according to the traffic conditions on run way.

This project (Construction of an adjustable electronic flasher) was constructed locally with the use of local materials and tools in I.M.T mechanical Engineering workshop. The various parts of the equipment were constructed separately using mild steel before finally coupled. During the construction, the conveyors and the housing were first constructed. After the construction work, test run was carried out using the grains of wet maize and dried maize. The result shows a greater efficiency in home, office and hotel use.

CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN OF AUTOMATIC CHANGEOVER SWITCH
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY
The project is designed for power supply applications. It involves automatic changeover between the main power supply and an auxiliary power supply, such as a generator. The circuit of the project consists of logical control unit and relay switches. The basic operation of the project is to switch ON an auxiliary power supply (like a generator). This operation connects the power supply from the generator to the load after a predetermined time interval. Switching is possible through the use of the relays. The system was designed to automatically change power supply back to the main supply moments after the A.C. mains are restored and to switch OFF the generator. The device removes the stress of manually switching ON the generator when power failure occurs. The operation allows electric current to flow through the motor/starter. It is noted that one of the motors terminals is already connected to 12V+ terminals. The switching of the relay allows the other terminal to be grounded thereby completing the circuit of the electric motor.(Hammed and Mohammed, 2006).
Power supply instability in developing countries creates a need for automation of electrical power generation or alternative sources of power to back up the utility supply. A variac is also known as a variable autotransformer. A single primary winding wrapped around a magnetic core is used as in the autotransformer but instead of being fixed at some point, the secondary is tapped continuously over the output voltage range. In the construction, a toroidal core was used so as to allow for easy variation of output voltage. All the details that are required to help in constructing the variac to ensure that it gives the desired result were also determined. The appropriate insulation materials as well as the electrical accessories were selected taking the power, voltage and current rating of the variac into consideration. The construction was divided into three segments: magnetic circuit, electrical circuit and casing construction.

The scope of the operation of the adjustable electronic flasher fully automated. It pulses it with a higher peak current to give a brighter illumination and consumes less average current. This means it will work for a long time on an almost flat battery and cost nothing to run. It can be used for battery equipment to indicate the power is ON or as an ALARM ON indicator. You can use a super-bright LED and get a really bright flash, or an ordinary green, orange or yellow LED to get something better than a flashing red LED.

Water is one of the most important natural resources that need to be conserved, but the rate at which water is being wasted in both he domestic and industrial activities is quite learning however, in a bid to reduce this kind of wastage in some industries, effort has been made towards the design of a “re – circulation system” in which water that has been used is made to recycle and be used again for the production processes.

The light sensitive alarm is an electronic circuit that detects a sudden shadow falling on the light sensor and sounds the bleeper. When this happens, the circuit will respond to gradual charges in brightness to avoid false alarm. The beeper sounds for only a short time to prevent the battery from running flat. Normal light can be use.
