LIBRARY SCIENCE PROJECT TOPICS AND MATERIALS
This study was intended to assess the impact of public library services on the literacy level of Nigerians. This study was guided by the following objectives; to know if public libraries influence economic development. To examine the present state of public libraries in Nigeria. to know if there is a relationship between public library development and literacy in Nigeria. To evaluate the importance of public libraries to educational development. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 25 staff of national library, Kaduna state. The study findings revealed that public library services significantly influences the literacy level of Nigerians; Based on the findings from the study, efforts should be made by the Nigerian government and stakeholders in funding public libraries in other to achieve educational development.

A modern society is characterized by an increasing need for specialized institutions in various fields of activity for the performance of their day-to-day functions as well as research and consultancy work. These institutions require speedy access to qualitative published information.
Library and information services are a key element in libraries since the ancient times. Their vital role is increasingly becoming a measure of the library’s contribution to the transformation and development of a society and the nation at large. The use of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) has caused a transformation in the users’ perception from what is being hosted in the library to how and when services are rendered to fulfill their requests.

ABSTRACT
This study examined the effects of digital video instruction and PowerPoint presentation on students’ academic achievement and interest in electoral system in government. The study employed a quasi – experimental which involved a 2 x 2 pretest – posttest non-equivalent control group factorial design. Two intact classes were used for the study. The population of the study comprised of 2, 800 Senior Secondary Class Two (SS II) Students. The sample of the study consisted of 170 senior secondary class two (SSII) government students. Using purposive sampling technique, two co-educational public secondary schools in Nsukka Local Government Area in Enugu State were selected for the study. Experimental group one is made up of 22 males and 46 female students while experimental group two is composed of 45 males and 57 female students. Experimental group one were assigned to digital video instruction (DVI) and PowerPoint presentation (PPPs) was assigned to experimental group two respectively. The instruments for data collection are the government achievement test in electoral system (GATES) and government interest inventory in electoral system (GIIES). The instruments were validated by experts in measurement and evaluation as well as experienced government teachers. An internal consistency of reliability of GATES was computed and found to be 0.76 using Kuder – Richardson formula 20(K-R 20) while for GIIES, an internal consistency reliability co-efficiency of 0.92 was obtained

Information and its effective and proper dissemination is a powerful force to reckon with in any nation. There will be no meaningful development in any nation if proper attention is not paid to libraries. Since researches birth new discoveries and inventions, it is a common place to have libraries as the incubating home of researchers, therefore, it logically follows that the invaluable roles that libraries play in the development of any nation cannot be overemphasized (Fabunmi and Folorunso 2009).
